The Majuli University of Culture is Assam’s first artistic university. It's a public state university located in Majuli, Assam. The university is completely devoted to exploration, tutoring and education in the field of culture. The artistic university is established by the Government of Assam on 7th September 2017 according to the Majuli University of Culture Bill 2017. On July 13, 2018, Assam’s CM Shri Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation gravestone of Assam’s first artistic university at the riverine island Majuli. The estimated construction cost of the cultural university is Rs. 300 crores.

Programmes Structure Offered by Majuli University of Culture
A. Undergraduate Programme (UG)
A 2-year course of 4 semesters conducted through the CBCS system of learning & evaluation. The course carries a total of 84 credits distributed in 4 semesters.
B. Post-Graduate Programme (PG)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Visual Arts & Mask Making: Course duration is one year and it comprises 4 papers, two theory papers and two of them are practical papers.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Heritage Studies & Conservation: Course duration is one year and it comprises 4 papers, two theory papers and two of them are practical papers.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Manuscript Studies & Conservation: Course duration is one year and it comprises 4 papers, two theory papers and two of them are practical papers.
- M.A. in Assamese: A 2-years course of 4 semesters imparted through the CBCS system of learning & evaluation. The course carries a total of 84 credits distributed in 4 semesters.
- One-year Certificate course in Yoga.
C. Ph.D. Programme
- Three years Ph.D. Programme in Sattriya Music & Dance.
- Three years Ph.D. Programme in Historical & Heritage Studies/Culture Studies/Comparative Religion
- Three years Ph.D. Programme in Philosophical Studies/Studies in Humanities and Social-Science/Folk-Culture.
- Three years Ph.D. Programme in Assamese & other languages of North East India.
- Three years Ph.D. Programme in Literature, Folklore, Traditional Culture and any other areas related to literature studies.
