Construction Works of 8.25 Km Long Assam’s Majuli-Jorhat Bridge Over Brahmaputra Begins
As all of you know that Majuli Island is the largest riverine island in the Wold and it plays a key role in the tourism industry of Assam, that’s why getting good road connectivity for the island is very essential to connect the island with their nearby areas. The construction of the Majuli-Jorhat bridge over the river Brahmaputra is a milestone event for the riverine island district and this will give renewed momentum to the development journey of the island district.

On 29th November 2021 Assam’s CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launch the construction work of 8.25 Km long Majuli-Jorhat bridge over the river Brahmaputra which connects the World’s largest river island Majuli with the Jorhat district of Assam.
Assam CM Sarma launched the construction works of the bridge at Dakhinpat, Majuli and he also announced that- “the Government of Assam will build a new bridge connection Majuli with Lakhimpur on the Northern side of the riverine island district at Dhunaguri at an estimated cost of about Rs.750 Crore and this project will be completely state-funded”.
Speaking in the Construction Launch Ceremony Assam CM Sarma said- “The launch of construction of the Majuli-Jorhat bridge is a milestone event and this will give renewed momentum to the development journey of the island district. The bridge was a long-standing demand of the people of Majuli. Once the construction of this bridge is completed it will give a paradigm shift to connectivity between Jorhat and Majuli besides leading rapid development in the island district.”

Details About The Allotted Majuli-Jorhat Bridge Construction Company
The Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned Rs. 925.47 crore for the construction of the Majuli-Jorhat bridge. The project has been granted to the M/s UP State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited, Lucknow. The total length of the Majuli-Jorhat bridge will be 8.25 Km and the targeted period of the completion of the bridge is within the next 4 years (48 Months). The bridge will be a two-lane bridge and also connect the NH-715K at Dakhinpat, Majuli over the river Brahmaputra.
